For this lifestyle newborn and family session, we decided to incorporate the baby’s nursery along with some features of West Point’s iconic Trophy Point. Family photos is sort of the first step in welcoming your new baby to the family. It’s kind of like, hey we have a baby!

When Erin asked me to do this session, it was actually before they had even moved here! Along with her moving while 8 months pregnant (can we have a silent prayer for how resilient this woman is??), they also have a daughter that is almost two years old. It just so happens that her littles are almost the exact same age difference as mine, with her daughter’s birthday only being a couple days after my daughter’s!

As I was walking in, I immediately noticed the wreath on the door. Turns out, Erin had actually MADE that. Let’s just say that this family definitely impressed me within the first 10 minutes of being there.

I always love photographing lifestyle newborn and family sessions, because it for one is more comfortable for newborns, and two I am able to get a glimpse behind the curtain. Whether it’s the personal style of the nursery (which I always adore seeing), the rocking chair that you know mom is using for hours a day, or the simple smiles as this is something they do everyday. Lifestyle sessions are a great opportunity to document how you are, well, everyday.

It is also so special that the Harris family included Trophy Point. If you are at or near West Point, you know that this is the iconic place to get photos! So being able to incorporate that along with their nursery was such a wonderful touch.
