There’s something so timeless about an outdoor family session, and this one off the Natchez Trace in Madison, Mississippi was no exception. The Natchez Trace Parkway offers a mix of open fields, tree-lined paths, and soft golden light that creates the perfect backdrop for portraits.

I had the joy of photographing the Davis family as they celebrated this season of life, soon to welcome another little one into their crew. Their laughter and connection made this session such a joy to capture, along with being able to catch up with Brittany!

Her husband and precious daughter were such a delight to get to know, and little Katherine made sure we didn’t forget to include her stuffy in the photos. Let’s be real, as moms we all know that those stuffies/ blankets/ pacis (or in my son’s case, a green rag he has chewed straight through) are part of the family.

Brittany and I actually went to Belhaven University together and graduated from the same photo program, that she is now the head of! We both spent MANY hours in the darkroom when we were just wee lads at that point, so seeing her now be a mom and professor is so surreal (and maybe a reminder that we definitely aren’t students anymore lol).

The Davis family is expecting their newest addition this fall, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for them! I know that Katherine is going to be the BEST big sister.
